Kejriwal's $174 Million Home Renovation Shows He's Out of Touch with the Needs of Common People?

Arvind Kejriwal spends Rs 174 crore on house renovation, while Delhi roads are in a state of disrepair.

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has come under fire for spending Rs 174 crore on the renovation of his official residence, while the roads in the city are in a state of disrepair.

The renovation of Kejriwal's house, which is located in Lutyens' Delhi, began in 2020 and was completed in 2022. The work included the construction of a new kitchen, dining room, and meeting room, as well as the renovation of the existing rooms.

The cost of the renovation has been met from the public exchequer. This has led to criticism from the opposition, who have accused Kejriwal of wasting taxpayers' money.

The opposition has also pointed out that the roads in Delhi are in a state of disrepair. In a recent survey, it was found that 60% of the roads in Delhi are in poor condition.

Kejriwal has defended the renovation of his house, saying that it was necessary to make it more comfortable and functional. He has also said that the government is working on improving the condition of the roads in Delhi.

However, the opposition is not convinced. They have called for an investigation into the renovation of Kejriwal's house.

The following are some of the reactions to the news report:

  • "This is a clear case of corruption. Kejriwal should be held accountable for this." - Ajay Maken, Congress leader
  • "This is a waste of taxpayers' money. Kejriwal should have used this money to improve the condition of the roads in Delhi." - Kapil Mishra, Aam Aadmi Party leader
  • "Kejriwal is living a life of luxury while the people of Delhi are suffering. This is unacceptable." - Atishi Marlena, Congress leader
